SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Customized Debate Camp that works for your school and / or enrichment group of 8 or more students.
DEBATE CAMP:
Debate Camp provides academic enrichment programming in the areas of debate and public speaking. Since 2002, we have provided in-person summer (day & overnight camps) and school year co-curricular programs throughout Canada and the Northeastern United States; serving approximately 1500 students annually.

During the academic school year, Debate Camp is able to support schools with the operation of their co-curricular debate, public speaking, mock trial and Model UN programs in regions where our annual summer camp staff reside or attend nearby universities. In 2023, locations in which we are able to support in-person cocurrcicular school programs include, Boston, New York, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver and Halifax

CO-CURRICULAR SCHOOL PROGRAM
It is in the spirit of this experience that we have designed our School Programs for the 2023-24 school year. Debate Camp has developed a 1:12 (teacher-student) session series with the following features:

EXPERIENCED INSTRUCTORS: with 140+ teaching hours experience, and completed training
in classroom teaching techniques, safeguarding and instructional strategies for a variety of learning styles.

SERIES OPTIONS of 6, 12 and / or 18 session plans focused on Parliamentary Debate with 3 style focus
options:

​2 v 2 – Parliamentary Extemporaneous Debate
-
3 v 3 – World Schools Parliamentary Debate
-
4 v 4 – British Parliamentary Debate

MULTI LEVEL PROGRAM – across grades 5 to 10:
​

NOVICE LEVEL – introductory level workshops (any grade) in how-to debate, case construction, refutation, rebuttal, summary speeches and multiple debate styles

ADVANCED LEVEL – for experienced debaters (grades 7+) a balance between world affairs content seminars and skills workshops in advanced and/or thematic refutation, mechanizing and impacting arguments and effective summary speeches.

RESOURCE ACCESS to online guides: Debate Camp video tutorials, resolution banks and world affairs information sources (advanced level)
​
EXPERT FEEDBACK: both in-session verbal at the end of each practice round and chronicled for adult (coach / parent) review at the conclusion of a lesson series
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
All learning materials required, resource access, online decorum guides are provided by Debate Camp. Student progress and feedback is chronicled each week and available for teacher / coach review. A summary report after 6 sessions is available to participants, coaches / teachers and parents.
In 2023 – 24, Debate Camp will offer this program to a maximum of 12 schools in both Canada and US.
