Debate Camp offers an opportunity to stay connected in these times. Our multi-level program now ONLINE welcomes all abilities in grades 4 through 10.

DEBATE EDUCATION: For today's youth, skills in parliamentary debate help to develop critical thinking, advocacy, listening to alternate points of view and speaking well. Each 6 session package develops:

parliamentary debate technique

skills in case construction

skills in refutation and argument re-building

skills in organization of thought

persuasive, confident speaking
INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS: Online debate workshops are designed in a fun, interactive and student-centred way. Participants develop debate skills via opportunities to work together, share thinking and constructively debate in each session.

TEAMWORK: Online participants co-develop cases, debate as a team and receive feedback together; often as a side - pointing out strengths of argumentation and delivery. Each online session consists of a workshop, case construction time and a practice debate round.
​
SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT: Our online program is a supportive place, with lots of encouragement available for those who are trying new things. Participants are coached to honour what is being said by their opponents and welcome the efforts of others, even in competition.
ABILITY LEVELS: All online debate partnerships and speakers opposite are grouped at an experience level that ensures the right level of challenge:

OPEN • brand new to debate
• typical grades 4 to 6
• possible reluctant speaker

PLUS • familiar with debate
• typical grades 6 to 9
• less reluctant speaker
​
LEVEL-UP • experienced with debate
• typical grades 8 to 10
• accomplished speaker

Online level groups are similar to all Debate Camps and open to adjustment post registration to ensure program comfort and fit.

CASE CONSTRUCTION
• 10 min - introductory game or activity
• 15 min - case construction overview
